The top 10 things to complete during spring cleaning
So it is that time of year again. The plants are flowering, the birds are chirping and this can mean only one thing; it is time for the annual spring clean. But with a task this big, where do you even start? Here is our list of the top 10 important things to clean during your spring cleaning that often get overlooked.
1 The TV
So you have spent a lot of money on getting a high-quality TV with a great picture. But nothing is going to stop that crisp picture from showing through like a layer of dust and grime. Make sure you select an appropriate cleaner and give that screen a gentle clean.
It is where you store all of your clean clothes, but how often do you actually clean it? Dust and dirt lingering in the closet can cause your clothes to get dirty, or even worse, start to smell. Time to take everything out of the wardrobe and give the whole thing a good clean.
3 Fridge / Freezer
It is a job that none of us like doing, but spring cleaning is the perfect time to empty the fridge and defrost the freezer. It may also be time to throw away those things you had long forgotten about at the bottom of the freezer. And remember, do this BEFORE you clean the kitchen floor.
Perhaps the only cleaning job more hated than defrosting the freezer is cleaning the oven. But it is spring cleaning time and it is time to get down and tackle this job. Don’t forget the rubber gloves and make sure the room is well-ventilated if you are using a strong chemical oven cleaner.
It is one of the most neglected appliances in the home when it comes to cleaning, but yet one that we all drink from daily. Time to empty it out and tackle that limescale that has been building at the bottom before it ruins your next coffee or tea break.
The amount of dust that slat blinds can hold is amazing and the same is true for curtains. If you have expensive or delicate curtains you may want to consider using a professional curtain cleaning service to avoid damaging them. To clean blinds, simply use a towel or duster to wipe them clean.
8 Washing machine
It cleans your clothes daily, but when was the last time you gave your washing machine a good clean. There are several products which you can buy which will clean the inside of your machine just by putting them in the drum and running a standard cycle. Don’t forget to clean the rubber seals.
9 Tumble dryer
Where do you put your clean clothes? Straight into the tumble dryer. But if you haven’t cleaned your washing machine, chances are you haven’t cleaned your dryer either.
Perhaps the most forgotten part of your house are the walls. Cleaning the walls can help eliminate allergens. A gentle wipe down with an antibacterial cleanser should be fine, but remember to test the cleanser on an out of the way spot first.
11 Air ducts
At number 10 on the list is something that most people would never consider: your air ducts. Despite pumping air throughout your home, most people rarely, if ever, clean them. This is probably due to the fact that they can be hard to clean. The best option is to use a professional duct cleaner such as Willard Power Vac Furnace and Power Duct Cleaning.
