Stain protection after carpet and rug cleaning, is necessary in order to completely restore the original protective coating on the carpet fibers. This coating is usually applied by the manufactures to provide soil and stain resistance, and water repellant properties to the fabric. Such a coating however, is not permanent and will deteriorate with time, wear, and chemical reactions. Proper stain protection on your carpet acts like a wax coating on your car and will:
- Form an invisible shield which will resist staining by oils and grease
- Provide a water repellant coating
- Prevent soils or stains from adhering to the carpet fibers
- Prevent dyes from sticking to dye sites, especially on nylon carpeting.
Before doing a wash, sort laundry into different piles. Generally, this divides along lines of different fabrics, different wash temperatures and different colors. Study the care labels that must by law be sewn into garments, which will tell you if a garment can be washed - or whether it should only be dry-cleaned - and, if so, at what temperature, and whether it can be bleached or tumble-dried, along with any other instructions, such as whether it should washed inside out, or whether it is better not to wash it with biological detergent.
Begin by setting aside any very dirty items, to be washed separately, as well as any items to be washed separately by hand.
Bath towels, blankets, extra sheets, pillow cases and table clothes; where should these items be stored in your home? Finding the right storage space for your linens is important, because they need to be kept in the right conditions. With a proper storage space, you will be able to keep your linen collection clean, pristine and well organised so that you can always find the right piece when you need it.
How should you be storing your linens? Here are a few important advices that you should keep in mind so that your linens are stored properly.
It's easy to identify a smoker's home. The smell of tar and nicotine hits one's nostrils as soon as one enters the door. It's not easily covered up with air fresheners, either. If someone smokes in his or her home on a regular basis, it would be hard to hide this habit from any visitors. Even if one smokes outside the home, the smell still gets on clothes and in the hair. For a non-smoker the odor can be overwhelming. The best way, of course, is to not smoke. If this isn't something you're willing to consider, perhaps you might try one of these other options.
- First and foremost, open as many windows as possible to let in the fresh air. If possible, leave windows open all day. If it's possible to keep the windows open on a daily basis, try to do so.
